Understanding the 340B drug program

Section 340B of the Public Health Service Act requires pharmaceutical manufacturers participating in Medicaid to sell outpatient drugs at discounted prices to health care organizations that care for many uninsured and low-income patients.

As a participant in the 340B program, Revan Health aims to help patients save money on the sometimes skyrocketing costs of lifesaving drugs like insulin, epi-pens and HIV medications.

According to 340Bhealth.org the savings that clinics and hospitals receive through 340B drug discounts are central to health equity work. The 340B program helps ensure access to care in underserved areas, funds mobile care units and outreach, provides access to low-cost medications that enable patients to follow their treatment regimens, funds interpretation services and makes it possible to offer vital but under-reimbursed services, such as behavioral health and addiction services as well as HIV/AIDS care.

Revan Health offers free HIV and STD testing year-round and Director of Pharmacy Services at our on-site pharmacy, Revan Rx, is certified in HIV education and is pursuing accreditation as an American Academy of HIV Medicine Pharmacist. This means he is especially equipped to help formulate a treatment program for those who are diagnosed with HIV.
